Last-Ditch Active-X Installation
1. Check your Internet Explorer version. Run Internet Explorer,
click on Help, then choose About Internet Explorer. You must have version 6.0 SP1 or above.
If your version is lower, go to www.microsoft.com
to upgrade.
2. Check your Windows Scripting Host version. Run a command prompt (Start, Programs, Accessories, Command prompt or
Start, Run, cmd) Type cscript. The first line should tell you your version.
It must be at least 5.6. Type exit to leave the command prompt. If
you do not have version 5.6 or above, go to the following link to upgrade:

3. Check your XML version.
In the Windows/System32 directory, find the file msxml3.dll. Click once to highlight it, then right click and go to Properties.
Click the version tab. The
version must be 8.30.9926.0 or above. If
it’s not, go to the following link to upgrade:

4. If you have all the proper versions and you still
can’t view, do all of the following steps. First, uninstall the Active-X
control using Start-Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs. Look for
OnBase Web Active-X install and remove it. Then delete these files (if they exist) in the System32 directory of
your c:\Windows folder.

5. Run Internet Explorer and clear the temporary
internet folder (under Tools, Internet Options).
6. If you
have added this site to Internet Explorer as a favorite, delete it from
favorites (right-click on the favorite and choose delete).
7. Go into
Tools, Internet Options in Internet Explorer and click on the settings button.
Under check for newer versions of stored pages, change this to “Every
visit to page” and click OK.
8. Now under
Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level, check to make sure the
following are enabled:
-Download signed ActiveX controls
-Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
-Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
-Allow scripting of Internet Explorer Webbrowser
control.
-Active Scripting
-Navigate sub-frames across different domains
-Access data sources across domains
9. Under
Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, make sure the following is checked
-Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections
10. Under
Tools, Pop-up blockers, make sure webserver.caddoclerk.com and
obwebserver.caddoclerk.com are allowed sites. To make sure your problem is not a pop-up blocker problem, you might want
to turn them all off before trying images again. Look in Internet Explorer, Tools, all search toolbars such as Google,
Yahoo, AOL, etc., Internet security and virus programs, and programs downloaded
or installed that specifically block pop-ups. You can always turn them back on later if they’re not the problem.
Remember if all else fails, hold the CTRL key down while you click the Login
button to bypass your Pop-Up blockers.
11. Run an
adware or spyware blocking program to clean off any adware and spyware on your
PC.
12. Delete
the file you downloaded to your desktop
(if you did so previously).
13. Clear
your Recycle bin.
14. Restart
your PC.
15. Start Internet Explorer
and go to www.caddoclerk.com/tips.htm.
Click on the link beside Imaging Upgrade to download the Active X file back to
your desktop. If you have Windows XP SP2, you may get an error bar across
the top of your browser. Right click on the bar and choose download to
save the file. Be sure and save the file to your desktop (click on the
drop down arrow in the save dialog window and choose desktop).
16. Close
Internet Explorer and double-click on the file (Setup) on the desktop.
Follow the prompts to install the
controls.
17. Delete the setup file from your desktop, then run Internet Explorer
and try to login again.
