Record keeping began in the Caddo Parish Clerk's Office in 1838.  Copies of records can be obtained for $0.50 per page.  Certification of a copy is an additional $2.00.

The Clerk's Office began indexing on computers in the early 1980's.  Over the years, we have back-indexed Conveyance records on the computer to 1914 and Marriage records to 1937.

Prior to 1995, all our records were microfilmed.

In early 1995, the Clerk's Office began scanning Mortgage and Conveyance records into the computer.  Civil, Criminal and Marriage records were added in 2002.  We are now in the process of back-scanning Conveyance records to 1951 and marriage records to 1838.  Soon these images will be available online for viewing and printing.
